The NCFL has announced
their final 2009 All-Star Team with 10 Lawmen suiting up
for the All-Star Game and 2 alternates named.

The
following players made the 2009 NCFL All-Stars.
Among the leaders was All-American candidate Lance
Butler who lead the NCFL with 115 tackles and 26.5
tackles for loss in 10 regular season games.
Second place was 90 tackles. Also an All-American
candidate for this season was Maurice Johnson who had
29.5 tackles, 5 for loss, 3 sacks and 4 interceptions
for 147 return yards and 2 touchdowns, and 8 tipped
passes. He also played some tailback and returned
a few kicks. Maurice was a great team leader and
played several games while hurt and did not let up at
all. He also was the NCFL player of the week for
week 1, which made him the first player in the league to
ever get that award.
Darnell
Jefferies, in his first year with the Lawmen finished
4th in the NCFL in rushing with 538 yards and played in
only 9 games. That is a very good stat,
considering that the Lawmen offensive line was depleated
for most of the second half of the season and the team
ended up using a lot of defensive linemen to play
offensive line in the last several games, including the
Playoffs. First year defensive back Dennis Taylor
also did an outstanding job in 2009 with 3
interceptions, 131 return yards and 2 TDs and was a shut
down cornerback all season long. First year punter
Taylor Richardson also did a great job all season long
and was a well deserved all-star.
Wide
Receiver Angelo Winston was selected for the second year
and finished tied for 5th in the league for Touchdowns
with 8 regular season TDs. Angelo also had a huge
playoff game vs the Islanders and had 5 catches for 107
yards and 2 TDs. First year Tight End Les Gill and
first year Center Derek Lions also did great jobs all
season long and were well deserving of being All-Stars.
Longtime
veteran and defensive team captain Chad Hammer and first
year linebacker Xavier Rivers also performed very well
in 2009 with 58.5 (for Hammer) and 59 (for Rivers)
tackles and were both among the league leaders.
Hammer was an all-star for the 4th consecutive season
with the Lawmen. Alternates Sam Cheatham and
Devin Terrell also both did very well just to be named
alternates because both of them missed several games
with injuries, yet were still voted on as alternates.
