Next Game - Saturday August 7 vs Richmond War
Angels
|
|
The Lawmen are playing a
Charity Game against the
Richmond War Angels on
Saturday August 7th, 6:00 PM at
Pinole Valley High School.
This is non-league, off-season charity game that should
prove to be very exciting.
|
The team is also playing a
second charity game against the
Golden State Giants on
Saturday August 21st, 2:00 PM at the
Mare Island Sports Complex.
The Lawmen are already starting to
re-build for the 2011 spring season, and any players
interested in trying out for the team are encouraged to
contact Lawmen Team General Manager and Head Coach
Brad Newnham.
|
 |
Note
that there will be a $10 player fee for each of these
two games to help the team cover some upcoming costs in
getting ready for the 2011 season.
Let it be known right now
that the Lawmen are only looking for
dedicated team players for the 2011 season.
Unexcused absences from practices, games, and meetings,
as well as unpaid team fees, will not be tolerated in
the 2011 season. If you can't be fully
committed to your team's 2011 championship mission, then
don't come out this season.

Coach
Burrell Retires - Brad Newnham Takes Back Over
|
|
|
After 2 seasons as head
coach and defensive coordinator of the Lawmen, head
coach, Al Burrell
has decided to retire from Minor League Football to take
a break and spend more time with his family. Coach
Burrell has spent the last 21 years, playing and
coaching Minor League Football, Indoor Football and High
School Football and said that it's time for him to start
focusing on his family and other important things he's
got going on outside of football. He'll still be
coaching High School football, but has decided that is
enough football for him at the current time. |
 |
The Lawmen are sorry to see
coach Burrell go, but at the same time are glad to have
had his help over the last two seasons. Coach
Burrell showed tremendous dedication to the team,
traveling from the Sacramento area every week for
practice and games, and for that the Lawmen will ways be
thankful. At this point, general manager and
assistant head coach, Brad
Newnham will take over again as the Lawmen
head coach.
Newnham who has been with the team since 1999 as a
player, coach, and general manager, was the head coach at
the start of the 2009 season. Early in the season, he stepped
down and appointed, then defensive coordinator, Al
Burrell to be the head coach because of some personal
issues. Newnham is again ready to take the reins
as head coach going into the 2011 season.
Newnham will be helped by his longtime friend, teammate,
and coaching partner, Boots
James, who will assume the position of
assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.
James who has also been with the Lawmen since 1999, was
the former Lawmen team owner from 2004-2008, as well as
the head coach and defensive coordinator in 2008.

Lawmen
Helping HS and Youth Teams Through Fundraising
|
|
For 2010,
and beyond, the Lawmen are helping High School and youth
sports organizations in the Castro Valley area to raise
money by allowing them to sell Lawmen Game tickets and
then keeping at least 50% of the proceeds from all their
ticket sales. Also, $1.00 from every ticket sold
goes to Children's Hospital of Oakland.
Tickets are on sale now for
$10 and can be purchased from Castro Valley High
School Athletics, Castro Valley Little League and
Castro Valley Independent Sports League. The
Lawmen will be hosting 2010 home games at the
Castro Valley High School Football
Stadium.
